Upcoming Events on TRBS Substack!
Giveaways, 25 Days of Books, and much more!
Hello again, everyone!
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful few weeks since my last post. On my end, things were quiet as I took some uncharacteristic downtime to recharge before the end-of-the-year push on TRBS, which of course, butts up to our New Year coverage, kicking off in the coming days on the flagship site.
For me, after writing five books and a novella in only three years, in addition to running TRBS, the burnout was real. Now, I’m recharged and ready to rock—and therefore, I am excited to announce what’s on the horizon.
Beginning on December 1st, I’ll be posting 25 days straight of book recommendations before crowning my pick for Best Book of 2024. I also have two interviews that I’ll be sharing that are now exclusive to Substack—one with author Don Bentley and one with David McCloskey. Each interview was conducted and shot on Twitch (video form), where they ran for thirty days. Moving forward, their new home will be here—for you all to watch in their entirety, and I really think you’ll like them. Both guys are hilarious, and we had a ton of fun.
I will also be hosting a giveaway in time for Christmas, and I am thrilled to say that one reader will receive an entire collection of Marc Cameron’s Arliss Cutter series. Details will come next week on that one, but if you’ve not read any of Marc’s books, we just did an exclusive announcement on TRBS flagship for his next one. You can see that here. Honestly, the Cutter books, written in the same vein as C.J. Box, Paul Doiron, and William Kent Krueger, have fast become one of my favorite franchises going right now. So, I can’t wait to hook one reader up with a complete set! However, that won’t be the only giveaway we’re doing . . .
Soon, I’ll have advance copies of both Ted Bell’s Monarch (March 25, 2025), my first Alex Hawke thriller, and Gone Dark (June 17, 2025), the next book in my Matthew Redd series, and I will be doing giveaways for each right here on Substack. Of course, you can find both on Netgalley early—here and here—if you prefer reading on Kindle.
Beyond those things, I’ll also be continuing my Substack series on writing and publishing, as I get a lot of emails from people who want to write and dream of becoming published but don’t know where to start. After a decade of Book Spying in addition to many years of editing and now writing books myself, I think I have a unique perspective on the industry, and will soon be sharing thoughts I’ve never dared to publicize before. Some of that info, or even just my opinion on things, may rock the boat a bit. But you know what? There are some things that need to be said. So, too bad. I’m going to say ‘em. I’ll be professional, but I’m saying it. Soon.
Anyways, that’s what’s on tap. I thank you all for sticking with me the last few weeks while I was taking time away, but I’m excited to be back—and cannot wait to connect with you all in the coming weeks. LOTS more content on the way, so stay tuned!
